Emily G. is definitely a good reason to brave the cold winter football season!

The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders (DBC) are as classy and illustrious as their players and Emily G. is certainly no exception to this widely-known and accepted NFL fact. Denver sports (and their ladies of course) just breed a sense of excellence, united in orange and competing until the very end.

If Peyton Manning is your number one reason for watching the Broncos, then Emily G. is probably a close second. She’s up for a challenge, whether it’s learning a new dance routine, teaching a new dance routine, or just living life to the fullest and taking dares while on vacation.

She’s the perfect combination of prim and proper and hardcore football knowledge, has a sensitive side and isn’t afraid to show it, and would probably put on a jersey and try out as running back if she could. And she never takes herself too seriously, especially in selfies.

Man Cave Daily: Where are you originally from?

Emily G.: I am a Colorado native! I was born and raised in Arvada, CO, a suburb of Denver.

MCD: What school did you go to?

EG: I attended the University of Colorado Boulder. I was a member of the CU Express Dance team for my first three years. We would perform at football games, men’s and women’s basketball games, and volleyball games. GO BUFFS!

MCD: I’ve been to Boulder – it’s pretty unique. Five words to describe it?

EG: Eclectic, healthy, community, outdoorsy, and breathtaking.

MCD: Occupation?

EG: Right now I am a triple threat when it comes to occupation! During the day I work full-time at a mortgage company. In the evening, when I’m not at practice with my teammates, I continue my passion for dance by teaching at a local dance studio, and also coaching the Denver Broncos Sparkle All-Star team. Teaching is one of my passions and I’m very fortunate to be able to share my love of dance with children.

MCD: Years on team?

EG: I have been a Denver Broncos Cheerleader (DBC) for the past two seasons.

MCD: I hear it’s a tough process to make the team – did you make it on your first try?

EG: I tried out two times and made it to finals both times prior to being selected for the 2013

squad. It was an amazing learning process and taught me about perseverance in order to reach my goals. I guess you can say third time’s a charm!

MCD: Are you in the calendar?

EG: You can spot me in the 2015 Denver Broncos Cheerleader Calendar! I share the month of January with my lovely teammate Sam! We have two girls dedicated to each month, a cover page, and a schedule page; so all 26 members of our team are featured in the calendar!

MCD: Tell me something random about Sam?

EG: She owns two guinea pigs.

MCD: Greatest memory so far?

EG: My greatest memory as a DBC would have to be cheering at the 2013-2014 AFC Championship game against the Patriots. Sports Authority Field at Mile High can only be described as electric. The atmosphere of the stadium that day was truly incomparable to any other moment I have had at that stadium. Being able to share that moment with my best friends and Broncos Country is a memory I will never forget. With music blaring and confetti falling, I realized one of my dreams would come true! To go travel to the Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos!

MCD: Tell me about the Super Bowl – not many cheerleaders get that amazing opportunity.

EG: The Super Bowl was a trip I will always remember. NYC was buzzing with football fever. Times Square was filled with fans and football. My team and I were lucky enough to appear on The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Crowd Goes Wild, and more. In our spare time we also got to experience all of the great landmarks New York has to offer. I will never forget the feeling of walking out of the Denver Broncos tunnel in MetLife Stadium. The atmosphere was electric and one of my dreams had come true! The production of the game was perfection. There were fireworks, videos, and amazing performers that really made this game stand out. Not to mention I got to spend this amazing trip with 26 of my best friends.

MCD: Favorite player?

EG: Former Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis. If you can believe it, my dream as a little girl was not to cheer for the Broncos but PLAY for the Denver Broncos! After his MVP performance in Super Bowl 32, Terrell Davis became my first football idol. He is the reason I fell in love with the Broncos and the sport. Eventually I would come to the realization I would never play in the NFL, so I decided to pursue my love of dance, and the Broncos in becoming a DBC!

MCD: What position would you be best at?

EG: I would be best at running back if I were to take the field because I could slip through holes the offensive linemen would set up for me!

MCD: For those who have never been to your stadium, describe the atmosphere?

EG: If you have never been to Sports Authority Field at Mile High I would definitely recommend putting it on your list of things to do. The atmosphere on game day is Mile High Magic. Broncos fans are truly the most spirited and die-hard fans in the NFL, and on game day when 76,000 of them fill the stands the energy can be overwhelming. The first time I ever walked (or should I say danced!) onto the field as a DBC I couldn’t help but tear up. The love and passion this city has for the Denver Broncos goes unmatched in the NFL. I am proud to be a member of Broncos Country!

MCD: Which Spice Girl would you be?

EG: I would be Sporty Spice. Most would probably pin me as Baby Spice since I have the blonde hair, but sports are my thing! I am definitely a tomboy at heart and could spend all my spare time watching Sportscenter, working out, or catching any sporting event in Denver. Not to mention I am very competitive so I’m always looking for new athletic challenges!

MCD: Biggest misconception about cheerleaders?

EG: I have only spent time as a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos so I can only answer for our team, but the biggest misconception is that we don’t follow football knowledge. Surprisingly to most fans, all of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders are sports fans and follow sports in some degree. Every year at tryouts there is a written football test on general football knowledge and Denver Broncos history knowledge. The test is scored and does have an impact on each woman’s final score! Another fun fact about the Denver Broncos Cheerleader’s is that each year we have a Fantasy Football league for fun! It gets very competitive!

MCD: What’s the most embarrassing/random thing we’d find in your recent Google history?

EG: I think the most random thing you would find in my most recent Google history search would be “scariest haunted tours in Denver,” I guess it isn’t so random because it is October, but I’m very intrigued by hauntings, ghosts and spirits. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Even though I may enjoy “real” haunting and ghost stories, you will never catch me in a haunted house!

MCD: What’s your favorite costume you’ve dressed up as?

EG: Definitely Foxy Cleopatra from the movie Goldmember. I loved Beyoncé’s role in that movie and thought it was such a fun character.

MCD: Since you’re so busy getting ready for the games, (sadly) you miss one of my favorite parts – tailgating! If you were asked to bring one thing, what would it be?

EG: I would bring my homemade guacamole. Not to brag or anything but…it’s amazing! It has a little bit of sweet from the avocados and a hint of spice. I am obsessed with spicy food so I of course have to add some jalapeños in the mix.

MCD: I know a huge part of being an NFL cheerleader is visiting/spending time with the military (which I love!). If you could give a message to those who serve our country and fight for our freedom, what would you say?

EG: To our men and women in uniform, past present and future, thank you for your bravery and service. We rely on you for our protection, and our freedom, and for that we will forever honor and respect you. Know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of Americans at every moment. Keep your faith and mind strong through this time and don’t let go of hope. God bless you.

MCD: Look in your purse/bag right now – what’s the most random thing in there?

EG: Five sets of earrings. I’m always on the run so my purse becomes my jewelry box. I usually end up throwing on earrings, a necklace or bracelets last minute before going into work, dinner or an event.

MCD: Cheerleaders are known for taking the perfect selfies – probably moreso than Kim Kardashian – what’s your secret to a perfect selfie?

EG: The key to a perfect selfie is not to take yourself so seriously. The harder you try to get the “perfect selfie” the more awkward it ends up turning out. I will say, that my teammates and I have mastered the art of taking the perfect selfie. Check out our Twitter pages and see for yourself! We get all 26 of us in!

MCD: Hobbies?

EG: Being a Colorado native I love anything outdoors. In my spare time while I’m not dancing or working I love to hike, camp, or just spend time with friends and family in the mountains.

MCD: What’s the team’s character like? What have you learned since joining?

EG: My team’s character is compassionate and bold. The women on my team surprise me everyday with the grace they hold themselves with. They never cease to amaze me with their intelligence and poise. Not only are my teammates articulate and smart they are also bold. The women on my team are witty, humorous and always bring charisma to a conversation. I will honestly say that (they) are my role models in life and I am inspired everyday by their character. I’m lucky to call them my friends.

MCD: Homebody or an adventurer?

EG: I’m definitely an adventurer. I will most likely try anything once. I love to be the person who says they have done something so I’m always up for the challenge.

MCD: So…what’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?

EG: One of the most adventurous things I’ve done is my friend and I went two hours outside of Cabo San Lucas to dune buggy in the desert. While we were training to be able to drive the dune buggys one of the instructors killed an 8′ rattlesnake right in front of us! After the class we spent a half hour racing around a dirt track in huge dune buggys!
