Vikings Cheer Kristy
Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader Kristy is a Keeper
By now it’s certainly no secret that most NFL cheerleaders would dance to Beyonce all day every day if given the option, but these ladies are about as unique and interesting as you could imagine. Sure they’re all into fitness and huge fans of their respective teams, but with an entrepreneurial spirit like Kristy, the beautiful gal who represents the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleadersin this series, you’ll see they are more diverse than you could imagine.
This glamour of the North cakepop-baker, do-gooder and guacamole-lover explains why it’s not so incredibly random to carry a teasing comb with you wherever you go and that twerking is in fact, still a thing. As it should be. Miley probably agrees.
You can find this beauty on the sidelines, on a boat, or even on the floor of her living room scrapbooking away her favorite memories, but for now…you can find her right here with this exclusive interview with ManCave Daily.
Man Cave Daily: Where are you originally from?
Kristy: Vadnais Heights, Minnesota
MCD: What school did you go to?
K: I went to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and received my bachelor’s degree in marketing. Go Tommies!
MCD: Occupation?
K: I’m an entrepreneur. I own my own boutique in Minneapolis called Blush by kay. We carry women’s clothing and accessories. I absolutely LOVE my job!
MCD: Years on team?
K: This is my third year with the Vikings Cheerleaders. I was lucky enough to make it my first year trying out, but I had been dancing 19 years prior to trying out so I had quite a bit of experience.
MCD: Are you in the calendar?
K: I am in the calendar, in fact our whole team is! I get to represent April this year! Instead of doing a swimsuit calendar, our team did a fitness-themed calendar. Each page has its own fitness tip. It’s been really fun to try a different concept and the fans love it!
MCD: So what’s your fitness tip?
K: My fitness tip is taking bar classes for a full-body exercise. I was thrilled to get this fitness tip. Before I had made the MVC I had been taking ballet for over 15 years so bar classes were a familiar workout for me!
MCD: Greatest memory so far?
K: I’ve made so many amazing memories it’s hard to pick just one but if I had to I would pick our trip to London last year. The Vikings were one of the teams chosen to play in the International Series against the Steelers. The amazing people we met and the events we got to attend were truly life changing. Plus, the Vikes won! It was seriously the adventure of a lifetime.
MCD: Had you ever been to London before? What was your favorite part?
K: Prior to our trip, I had never been to London or anywhere in Europe! My favorite part was one particular day of appearances–we started the day off with a photo shoot on the Millennium Bridge. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve been in my life and we were somehow lucky enough to do a photo shoot there. Between the actual shoot and the scenic background of the city it was like we were living in a dream. From there we did an appearance at the British Broadcasting Corporation. The BBC is the oldest and largest broadcaster in the world. We surprised one of the hosts and did a few skits with him, one of which included dressing him up in a cheerleader costume and teaching him a cheer. We spent the rest of the day exploring the city and learning more about the art and architecture. It was the most amazing day and something I’ll never forget!
MCD: Favorite player?
K: Everson Griffen (Defensive End for the Vikings). I’ve gotten the chance to do a few charity appearances with him and he is one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met. He loves getting out in the community and making a difference, even with his busy schedule. Not to mention, he has so much talent and keeps impressing us more each year!
MCD: For those who have never been to your stadium, describe the atmosphere.
K: This year the Vikings are playing at a different venue while our new stadium is being built! For the next two years we will be at TCF Bank Stadium, home to the University of Minnesota Gopher’s. It’s an outdoor stadium which is so much fun but an adjustment for everyone since we have always played indoors. It may get a little chilly towards the end of the season but it’s fun experiencing all the elements.
MCD: If you had a Real Housewives intro, what would yours be?
K: Whether I’m designing my store or cheering on the field I’m the glamour of the North.
MCD: Biggest misconception about cheerleaders?
K: The biggest misconception about cheerleaders is that we don’t eat. Believe me, we eat plenty! We work really hard to be in shape by eating the right things and exercising daily.
MCD: What charity is nearest and dearest to your heart?
K: The Vikings Children Fund is my favorite charity. It raises money for pediatric cancer research at the University of Minnesota. Raising money for VCF is a huge part of being on our team. A portion of the proceeds from our calendar sales goes towards the fund. We also do various charity appearances throughout the year, which raise money for the VCF as well. It’s so much fun to raise awareness for the charity and you feel great about supporting such a good cause.
MCD: If you could only dance/perform to one artist for the entire season, who would it be?
K: I would have to go with Beyonce. Her style of music fits most of our dances perfectly and it’s pretty easy to get pumped up listening to it.
MCD: What’s the most embarrassing/random thing we’d find in your recent Google history?
K: My last Google search was “Goldador Puppies” I have a dog obsession. I try to convince my boyfriend to get one every day.
MCD: Since you’re so busy getting ready for the games, (sadly) you miss one of my favorite parts–tailgating! If you were asked to bring one thing, what would it be?
K: I would definitely be making guacamole. It’s my go-to dish to share for any event. Everybody loves guac!
D: I know a huge part of being an NFL cheerleader is visiting/spending time with the military–if you could give a message to those who serve our country and fight for our freedom, what would you say?
K: Thank you for defending our freedom and providing us with safety every day! We appreciate you more than you know. God bless you!
MCD: Look in your purse/bag right now–what’s the most random thing in there?
K: A teasing comb…not so random for a cheerleader though!
MCD: Favorite book/magazine/website?
K: My favorite magazine is probably Cosmopolitan. I don’t get a ton of time to sit down with a good book but right now I’m reading The Fault in Our Stars. A little bit of a tear-jerker, so good though!
MCD: Twerking: Fun while it lasted or wish it never started?
K: Neither–our team still loves the twerking fad. One of our team captains, Jacqui is a professional twerker.
MCD: You’ve obviously got a full schedule. Any time for hobbies or interests?
K: I love doing pretty much anything outdoors. Boating on the lake is probably my favorite activity in my free time. I also love to scrapbook. Right now I’m working on a scrapbook for every year I’ve cheered.
MCD: What’s the team’s character like? What have you learned since joining?
K: Our team is the perfect combination of just about every character. We have the perfect balance. I’ve found that you can really learn something new from every teammate. We have such a wide variety of life experiences and ages on our team. Everybody has something really important to contribute. It’s so important to get to know each member of the team. Not many people are blessed to have a family of 35 amazing women to learn from.
MCD: Homebody or an adventurer?
K: I’m a little bit of both. I love to travel and experience new things but when I get a free second it can be nice to stay in and relax. One of my favorite things to do at home is bake! I have a big sweet tooth but it’s also a stress reliever for me. My favorite things to bake are my famous cakebatter cake pops!
MCD: OK Miss Adventurer, what’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
K: The most adventurous thing I’ve done is starting my company at 23. Probably the scariest thing too, but so rewarding!
MCD: Touché, that is rather adventurous I must say, kudos to you!
And you can follow my new friend Kristy and her beautiful teammates on social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Tell them The Blonde Side says hi!
